"Sailors' Snug Harbor, located along the Kill Van Kull on the north shore of Staten Island in New York City, was once the home for many retired merchant seamen. The life of a sailor was a harsh one - perilous waters and brutal pirates were constant companions. After surviving years under these conditions, many merchant seamen retired to Snug Harbor to live out their golden years in comfort. Rich with history, this location also holds a sinister side, one of forbidden love, adultery, suicide, torture, and even murder. With such morbidity often comes the presence of paranormal activity."
We had the opportunity to take a tour of the Matron's House and Governor's house at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center. We were unable to find any real proof of any paranormal activity during our tour but we did capture an unusual purple light in one of our photos taken inside the Governor's House.
Notice the purple light right at the base of the mirror. What's wierd is that we caught 3 of these purple lights in 3 different pictures and in 3 different rooms. (Unfortunatley I am currently unable to post the other pictures.) The fact that we were able to catch a few of these purple lights might mean that there is something paranormal going on inside the building.
The purple anomaly is unlikely to be a dent or defect in the mirror because we caught the same purple light against a door and a wall.
Recently I recieved an e-mail from a website visitor who had something to say about this purple light:
"That picture you caught in Snug Harbor is amazing. About 6 or 7 years ago, I
had rehearsal space in Snug Harbor. One day me and my drummer opened the door to
the room and saw that same purplish orb. It flew in a circular motion a few
times and then disappeared into the ceiling. We both saw it and looked at each
other in disbelief. It's great to see it documented. Good work."
